Chloe was all alone around Christmas time. She wished this was the first time but, this was just another year with out her husband. He was a popular chef in town. She had helped him from the start. Somewhere in the midst of it all she got lost in the shuffle. Her husband Gianni was a Latin hot head.  He wouldn’t be told what to do, but felt he could control others. She had seen this from the beginning. It  was how they met. Somewhere along the way they couldn’t live without each other. Him barely speaking English, her being his translator of not just his words but his temper. She had a way of simmering down those around as he torched connections. With two restaurants under his belt he was working on a third, but it wasn’t him. He was just too prideful to admit. That or that his marriage was failing. As much as she wanted to talk to him, he brushed away her feelings. Chloe packed her bags and left.

Now one year later she was a big name in PR. She was traveling just to keep family life off her mind. She could picture her past but could not in-vision the future. When Gianni offers her a chance at helping him jump start his restaurant, she accepts homing to end loose ends. What she wasn’t expecting was an opening with no staff. She knew that he could be hard to handle, but his temper had heightened to slapping reviewers with sausages. Chloe was able to see past his hard frame. She was able to peel back the layers of his failed restaurant, to see that she was the root of all his troubles. The two finally spend time having the talks they should of had all that time ago. Maybe Gianni isn’t the only one to blame for the fall out.

Review

This book is so different than any book I have ever read. It put me into the mind zone of Landline by Rainbow Rowell. If you were a fan of that book, you might enjoy this one. This is my first time reading Sue Watson. She was transitioned well. I like when the book sticks with the meat of the book. The book wasn’t filled with anything that didn’t need to be there. The reader was caught up from beginning to end. There some silly parts that put a smile on your face.

Lets just say Gianni will not be a book boyfriend, but he is original. I like that after that time apart he was able to just let things out and open up. His temper was only the production of their failing marriage. Chloe was a good character. I think she was well aware of her feeling most of the time and it saved her from making stupid decisions. The novel had a great ending. When your hurt, you can’t see someone else. I gave the book 3/5 stars. It was a great book. I don’t read adult book all the time but this opened me up. Oh and lets just say that while I was reading this book the entire time I was thinking of fernando and gibby from fuller house. The two were getting a divorce but now they are back together.
